Life is a balancing act. At least, that’s what yoga has taught me. I forget that important lesson all the time but life has its own way of reminding me, time and time again.
As a small business owner, a yogi, a wife and a mother, I am constantly balancing out the demands of all the different roles I am required to fulfill. Whether it’s my employees or my family, people depend on me. I enjoy supporting the wonderful people that life has surrounded me with, but I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t have its stressful moments.
It took me a while to realize that it wasn’t wrong for me to feel overwhelmed and angry by the pressure of all the demands. I felt guilty for not having a smile on my face all the time. I was trying to be everyone to everybody, but that’s not realistic.
You also have to be there for yourself, too. That’s something my mother never taught me. It’s something I want to teach my daughter and her friends. It’s a vital mindset for any woman who wants to be productive and happy:
Be good to you.
Now, instead of trying to just absorb all the stress, I actively work to find ways to diffuse stress through self-care. It’s about eating healthy, exercising my body and connecting with friends. Sometimes a ladies night is exactly what the doctor ordered.
A little wine and a lot of laughter helps remind me who I am. It helps me take off the weight of my daily responsibilities, even if it’s only for an evening. Fun is the necessary balance to responsibility.
That being said, I did not want to feel sluggish and irritable the next day. That’s why I balance out my fun nights by taking Sober Up.
This natural detoxification shot helps me balance out the not-so-fun parts of drinking alcohol. It has a bunch of natural ingredients already known for their health benefits, like the anti-inflammatory effects of turmeric.
To me, it helps me feel fresh and energetic, even when the girls convince me to stay for another bottle.
Love your life. Have fun. Be good to your body. Repeat
